Chinese New Year

Hi everybody!!! Last week we celebrated Pancake Day, but we couldn´t celebrate Chinese New Year until this week, so… here you have!!! We have been studying this festival and how people celebrate it. We discovered that it is a very beautiful cultural party and we were specially interested in the Chinese Zodiac. For these reason, we decided to have our particular Chinese New Year party.

¡¡¡Hola a todos!!! La semana pasada celebramos el Día de las Tortitas, pero no pudimos celebrar el Año Nuevo Chino hasta esta semana, así que… ¡¡¡aquí lo tenéis!!! Hemos estado estudiando este festival y cómo lo celebra la genta. Descubrimos que es una fiesta cultural muy bonita, y nos interesamos especialmente por el Zodiaco Chino. Por esta razón, decidimos tener nuestra particular fiesta del Año Nuevo Chino.

And today we went all together to the covered playground. First of all, Cristina´s class told us all we needed to know about China. Later, they played the Chinese Zodiac´s Legend learnt in English class. And last, 5 years old children delighted us with a lovely songs learnt with Arantza in music class. It was a good taste of Chinese New Year. Thanks for all and I hope you liked it!!!

Y hoy hemos ido todos juntos al patio cubierto. En primer lugar, la clase de Cris nos contó todo lo que necesitábamos saber sobre China. Después, representaron la Leyenda del Zodiaco Chino aprendida en clase de Inglés. Por último, los niños de 5 años nos deleitaron con una preciosa canción aprendida con Arantza en clase de música. Fue una buena muestra del Año Nuevo Chino. ¡¡¡ Gracias a todos y espero que os gustara!!!

We worked in group, so each table made one pancake and we decorated it and chose our ingredients all together.

Trabajamos en grupo, así que cada mesa hizo una tortita y la decoramos y elegimos los ingredientes todos juntos.

5 years old / 5 años

Everyone made his/her own pancake.

Pancake Day!!!

Wow!!! We were looking forward for this festivity… Pancake Day!!! It´s the day before Ash Wednesday and we celebrated it cooking and eating delicious pancakes at school.

¡¡¡Guau!!! Todos estábamos deseando que llegara esta fiesta… ¡¡¡El día de tortitas!!! Es el día previo al Miércoles de Ceniza y lo celebramos cocinando y comiendo deliciosas tortitas en el cole.

Yesterday we studied in the classroom all the ingredients and where they came from. Moreover, we watched this video to motivate us to celebrate the party.

Ayer estudiamos en clase los ingredientes y su procedencia. Además, vimos este vídeo para motivarnos para celebrar la fiesta.

También empezamos una actividad relacionada con esta fiesta que tenemos que terminar. Os la enseñaremos en un par de días, ¡lo sentimos!

And today was the great day. The teachers added the ingredients, asking all the time their names in English and where they come from. Some of us were lucky enough to mix all the ingredients. Later, they showed us the mixture and the teachers started to pour it on a pan. They browned them on both sides, and… Pancakes for everyone!!! We could choose our favorite syrup: chocolate, caramel, peach jam, cream… Mmmmm, delicious!!!

Y hoy ha sido el gran día. Los profes pusieron los ingredientes, preguntándonos todo el tiempo los nombres en inglés y su procedencia. Algunos de nosotros tuvimos la suerte de mezclarlos y batirlos. Después, nos enseñaron la mezcla y los profes empezaron a verterla sobre la sartén. La doraron por ambos lados, y… ¡¡¡Tortitas para todos!!! Pudimos elegir nuestro sirope favorito: chocolate, caramelo, mermelada de melocotón, nata… Mmmmm, ¡¡¡delicioso!!!
