Spring!!!

Before going on holidays we have changed our season tree because now… we are in spring!!! In this season the green leaves and the grass grow, the flowers bloom, the animals have children and we can find a lot of bugs and insects.

Antes de irnos de vacaciones hemos cambiado nuestro árbol de las estaciones porque ahora… ¡¡¡estamos en primavera!!! En esta estación las hojas verdes y la hierba crecen, los animales tienen hijos y podemos encontrar un montón de bichos e insectos.

To learn their names and all that it happens in spring, Kassi and María told us different stories about this season.

Para aprender sus nombres y todo lo que ocurre en primavera, Kassi y María nos contaron diferentes cuentos sobre esta estación.

We also said bye-bye to winter and decorating our season tree in each classroom with beautiful drawings.

También le dijimos adiós al invierno decorando el árbol de las estaciones de cada clase con bonitos dibujos.

Saint Patrick Decoration

You know that we love to work in group and our English teacher loves the handicrafts, so we made some Saint Patrick decoration, of course!!! Each class collaborated in it. Now you can see it near to the Primary corridor, but first look the process and how we made it:

Ya sabéis que nos encanta trabajar en grupo y que a la profe de inglés le encantan las manualidades, así que hicimos decoración para san Patricio, ¡por supuesto!. Ahora podéis verlo cerca de los pasillos de primaria, pero primero ver el proceso y cómo lo hemos hecho:

- Four years old children colored the rainbow and stick colorful papers to make it shine.

Los niños de cuatro años colorearon el arco iris y pegaron papeles de colores para hacerlo brillar.

- Three years old stack some cotton on paper by groups to make two spongy clouds.

Los de tres pegaron algodón sobre papel por grupos para hacer dos esponjosas nubes.

- Five years old children painted the leprechaun and cut out golden coins and original clovers. A real origami work!

Los de cinco pintaron el leprechaun y recortaron monedas de oro y originales tréboles. ¡Un verdadero trabajo de papiroflexia!

Saint Patrick´s Day

Wow!!! What a busy week! And this is because we were celebrating a very important festivity; Saint Patrick´s Day!!! We finished the didactic units one week ago, and since then, we have been learning about Ireland:

- Ireland is an island next to United Kingdom.

- Irish people also speak English.

- Everything in Ireland is green because it rains a lot.

- The leprechauns and many other magic creatures live there.

- Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, and he is honored on 17^th march, day when he was dead.

- This celebration is very popular, people wear funny clothes and dress in green (if you don´t do it, people can pinch you!), and there are a lot of parades and music on the streets.

¡Guau! ¡Vaya semana tan ajetreada! Y es que hemos estado celebrando una fiesta muy importante; ¡¡¡ el día de San Patricio!!! Terminamos nuestras unidades didácticas hace una semana, y desde entonces hemos estado aprendiendo sobre Irlanda:

- Irlanda es una isla cercana a Reino Unido.

- Los irlandeses también hablan inglés.

- Todo en Irlanda está verde porque llueve un montón.

- Los leprechauns y otras muchas criaturas mágicas viven allí.

- San Patricio es el patrón de Irlanda, y es honrado el 17 de marzo, día en que murió.

- Esta celebración es muy popular; la gente se disfraza y lleva ropa verde (¡sino lo haces te pueden pellizcar!), y hay un montón de desfiles y música por la calle. 

We were especially interested in the magic creatures, so we focused on the legend of the Leprechauns, also very famous on Saint Patrick´s. They are small old men dressed in green who keep one magic pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They are very difficult to find, but if you ever see one, keep eye on eye and he will be forced to give you his magic gold! Perhaps, a lucky clover (which has 4 leaves), may help you to find them.

Estábamos especialmente interesados en las criaturas mágicas, así que nos centramos en la legenda de los leprechauns, muy famosos también en San Patricio. Son pequeños hombrecillos viejos vestidos de verde que guardan un caldero mágico de oro al final del arco iris. Son muy difíciles de encontrar, pero si alguna vez ves uno, mírale a los ojos y estará obligado a entregarte su oro mágico. A lo mejor, un trébol de la suerte (que tiene cuatro hojas), pueda ayudarte a encontrarlos. 

We celebrated Saint Patrick´s Day at school this Tuesday. All the teachers wore green clothes and the English teacher painted a clover and the Irish flag on our faces. She told us that the leprechauns came to our school and they hid clovers, magic pots and a lot of golden coins for all over the playground. So, at the break time we had a funny time looking for it! After this, everyone ate a delicious chocolate golden coin.

En el cole celebramos San Patricio este martes. Todos los profes llevaban ropa verde y la profe de inglés nos pintó un trébol y la bandera de Irlanda en la cara. Nos contó que unos leprechauns habían venido al cole y habían escondido tréboles, calderos mágicos y un montón de monedas de oro por todo el patio. Así que, en la hora del recreo, ¡pasamos un rato genial buscándolo! Después, cada uno comió una deliciosa moneda de chocolate.

In the classrooms, we learnt how to dance the Irish jig and we found out that is quite fun but very difficult! Look how we try.

En las clases, aprendimos cómo se bailan los Irish jig y descubrimos que es bastante divertido pero muy difícil. Mira cómo lo intentamos.

Five years old children review all that we have learnt about Ireland and Saint Patrick with an interesting Powerpoint presentation with Kassi, who also taught us a lot of games for this special day.

Los niños de cinco años revisamos todo lo que habíamos aprendido sobre Irlanda y San Patricio con un interesante Powerpoint con Kassi, quien también nos enseñó muchos juegos para este día tan especial.

/d/ - Play on my drum

This time, the new sound we have learnt is /d/. We can find it in words like “dinosaur”, “diamond” and “drum”. We sang the jolly phonics song and we made this simple drum to play and practice the phoneme. 

Esta vez, el nuevo sonido que hemos aprendido es /d/. Podemos encontrarlo en palabras como “dinosaurio”, “diamante” y “támbor”. Cantamos la canción de Jolly Phonics e hicimos este sencillo

/m/ - Many meals

Last week we learnt a new English sound: /m/. It is very similar to /n/, so be careful and try not to confuse them! Here you have the song to practice. We reviewed all the sounds that we have learnt during this year and we practiced some blending activities to read the sounds and form words with them.

La semana pasada aprendimos un nuevo fonema inglés: /m/. Es muy parecido a /n/, ¡así que tened cuidado de no confundirlos! Repasamos todos los sonidos que hemos aprendido y practicamos algunas actividades de “ensamblaje” para leer los sonidos y formar palabras con ellos.

As we were also studying the meals in our English unit, so we reviewed the vocabulary and grammar this funny song.

Como también estábamos aprendiendo las comidas en nuestra unidad didáctica, repasamos el vocabulario ya la gramática con esta divertida canción:

Later, the teachers gave us pictures with different food and they asked us “Do you like…?”, and we had to answer “Yes, I do / No, I don´t”. On the back, we draw our favourite meal, saying the word in English... mmmm, delicious!!!

Después, las profess nos repartieron dibujos con diferentes comidas y nos preguntaron “¿Te gusta…?”, y nosotros teníamos que responder “Sí, me gusta / No, no me gusta.” Por la parte de atrás dibujamos nuestra comida favorita, diciendo la palabra en inglés... mmmm, ¡delicioso!
